Explore Flour & Ink
Flour & Ink is where Charlotte’s food stories come to life. Part of the citywide SHOUT! celebration, this exhibition transforms handwritten recipes, family traditions, and personal memories into living art. Inside The Market at 7th Street, visitors are invited to slow down, savor, and connect — with the
chefs, makers, and culture‑bearers who shape our region’s evolving
culinary landscape.
Through a blend of visual storytelling, portraiture, and community participation, Flour & Ink honors the flavors that raised us, the people who taught us, and the dishes that continue to anchor our sense of home. From the smell of Sunday sauce simmering in a childhood kitchen to the first spark of creativity that launched a small business, each story in this exhibition reveals how food becomes memory — and memory becomes legacy.
Explore handwritten recipes reimagined as art. Meet the chefs and creators featured in the Faces of Flour & Ink portrait series. Share your own food memories through interactive prompts. And experience a rotating lineup of workshops, tastings, and weekend vendor markets that celebrate the many cultures and communities that make Charlotte delicious.
Flour & Ink is more than an exhibition — it’s a gathering place for stories, heritage, and the shared joy of food.
